Linking your domain name to your hosting account where your web space is held can quite often seem really technical and complicated – in fact it is very simple. This video shows you how to do it.
This video will show you how to link a domain name from Godaddy to your web space hosted by Hostgator. There are hundreds of permutations of how this might work depending on which companies you use for your domains and hosting – however the principles are the same. If you are using different companies to my recommendations and you are stuck, then simply search around to see if they have any help pages or videos, or give them a call and they will be more than happy to help. In the meantime if you are using Godaddy and Hostgator then this video explains everything clearly.

Free WordPress Set Up Video 1 – How to Buy and Register a New Domain Name

This video will show you how to find and register a new domain name for your new website or blog.
A domain name is simply the name that is used to point your visitors to your website or blog – e.g. www.Google.com is a domain name, so is www.Ace-Websites.com.
Depending on what you are using your site for, it is sometime a good idea to pick a domain name with your main keyword in it. For example if you were setting up a blog about Golden Retriever Dogs, then it would make sense to search for a domain with the words golden and retriever, for example www.goldenretrieverblog.com. This is just a quick idea that will help your blog in the search rankings when people search the term golden retriever in Google for example.
There are literally hundreds of places you can register a new domain online, so I can only really recommend the one I’ve been using successfully which is Godaddy.com. Their pricing is extremely competitive and their site is easy to use and they make it really easy to point your domain to alternative webspace should you decide to go elsewhere – for example Hostgator.com.
The first step you need to take is to make a list of potential domain names that you would like if they were available. Once you’ve got your short list you need to check if they are available. This video will show you how to check out what’s available and when you have found something you will be shown how to register it – so that you have full control of your new domain name for your new website or blog!

How to Install Filezilla ftp Software

To make life much easier and quicker you need some ftp (file transfer protocol) software which will enable you to transfer files too and from your internet webspace. A lot of hosting companies provide their own means of managing your files – but you really do need to use ftp software to manage everything properly and quickly. If you need to move, copy or delete files within your web space – this gives you quick access and full control.
I am recommending Filezilla mainly because that is what I use and it has never let me down. I haven’t really checked out any of the other options properly as this is just so good! By the way, it’s also FREE – so you can’t really go wrong.
