Trials & Tribulations of setting up a Google eMail Account/Address?
1-Why can I not have the name/eMail address that I want with Google Mail? i.e. (1.2)when I try to use my name with numbers like 1066 behind it then googlemail.com it wont let me (1.3) So I try capitals just for my Christian name and Surname but Googlemail throws up errors!
2-Why can’t I have @gmail.com or @gmail.co.uk after my name? Googlemail wont let me do that!
3-So, eventually I setup a Googlemail account but it’s not the eMail address that I wanted (it’s [GoogleMail] lopped off one of the digits before the @ symbol) but then I try to input names and eMail addresses of my family & friends under Contacts but Googlemail wont let me?!!!
4- I go to messages that I have attempted to Send to gmail Support but they are not there in my SENT folder? Trying to access emails sent to my Inbox refuses to open up eMails sent to me by gMail?
5-So, I go to setup another GoogleMail eMail address/account (in case my 1st one has Issues) but I get problems with Word Verification part of it? I just can’t get past it! So like nay others before me I GIVE UP! Google Mail needs to improve this!
Google Mail, it shouldn’t be this difficult a process, the objective for you is to try to attract/secure more customers/clients!

PS:
6- when I click on chek availability it does not work, they dont tell you that you have to first go and put in a password before the Google Mail system will check this! I had to do a search via the web. Why doesn’t setting up a Yahoo or Hotmail account/eMail address have this level of Problem/s?

Hello Jon
Thanks for getting in touch – it sounds like you have had horrendous problems with Google Mail. I’m really surprised as normally it’s really quick and easy to set up.
Just to try and help answer some of your points…
The name side of things – e.g. jondaniker@googlemail.com – trying to get your exact name depends on whether someone else has taken it. But usually google will suggest similar names with numbers etc.
googlemail v’s gmail – I’m pretty sure if you have a googlemail address you can still use gmail.
E.g. yourname@googlemail.com is basically the same email address as yourname@gmail.com – I tried that last night by sending myself an email with the gmail extension and it worked fine.
I hope you manage to suss out Google Mail as it really is by far the best email service around from my experience.
By the way I’ll email this to you as well just in case you don’t see this reply.
Best wishes – Dave

Hi David, Watched your video on how to set up am address. I was hoping it would mention add more than one address. So my question is – can you have more than 1 email address in an account, or do I need to set additional accounts for each new email address?

Hi Doug
Thanks for your question – as far as I know you just need to set up a new googlemail email address simply by setting up a new account. I’m pretty sure that each google account is managed by the email address. So I don’t think you can set up more than one email address within the same account.
Hope that helps – best wishes – Dave

Hi Dave,
Very useful,I thought it would be harder than that, we are moving from ntl and I wanted to set up an account before the changeover so I could let my contacts know of the change. You made it easy for me!
Thanks
June
